Fifth Sunday of Lent

April 2, 2017

JMJ

Blessed Sunday!

Our Lenten season has undergone yet another shift.
Today we enter Passiontide, a somber time as we enter more deeply into Jesus’ sacrifice,
the time when statues and crosses are covered with violet cloth.

Readings:
Ezekiel 37:12-14 (God will bring us out of our graves and give us His Spirit)
Psalm 130:1-8 “With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption
Romans 8:8-11 (God’s Spirit dwells in us and gives us life)
+John 11:1-45 (Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead)

Some souls
are on the watch
to intercept
the Lord.

Some need
a private word

and others
need strong souls
to roll the stone away,
a thundering cry,
and loving hands
to free them
from their bonds.

But all are loved
by God
in their own way.

Am I impatient with souls (perhaps my own!) who need more help in responding to Jesus?
Am I willing to put forth the effort to remove the obstacles to conversion?
