Thursday, first week of Lent (Frances of Rome)

March 9, 2017

JMJ

Blessed St. Frances of Rome’s Day!

St.FrancesofRome

She is patroness of women, widows, motorists, motorcyclists, pilots, taxi drivers, lay people, people ridiculed for their piety, Rome, Italy; Roman housewives and against the death of children and plague.

You can find her story here.

Readings:
Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 (The value of a valiant wife is far beyond jewels)
Psalm 34:2-11 “Taste and see the goodness of the Lord”
+Matthew 22:34-40 (You shall love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself)

A treasure of a wife
is known by love
that radiates
in kindly words
and busy hands
that nurture those
within her household
and beyond
for love of God.

And what is done
in love
becomes
its own reward.

Is love of God the core of my life, or love of myself?
How can I cultivate the transforming power of divine love in my own soul?
