The grandson of
the faithful Ruth,
he was the root
from which would rise
the royal line
of Israel,
still carrying
the Promise
of the Savior
still to come.

His “tree”
(the family)
would be cut down
by sin
but never
lost its hope…

For there is hope for a tree,
if it be cut down,
that it will sprout again,
and that its shoots will not cease.
Though its root grow old in the earth,
and its stump die in the ground,
yet at the scent of water it will bud
and put forth branches like a young plant
~Job 14:7-8

…because God
was
its guarantee.

You never change,
O Lord,
Your Promise holds
today
as it did then.
I trust
my family
to Your
restoring Hand.
