A foreigner
so taken byruth
Naomi’s way of life
that she would follow her,
forsake her people,
and her people’s gods,
in poverty,
with no reward
except to come to know
the God
Who animated her,
Ruth gave herself
to Naomi’s
guiding hand.
And lying
at the feet
of Rahab’s son
beside the threshing floor
she was received
into the line
of God’s Anointed One.wheat
