Monday, third week of Lent (St. Frances of Rome)
Blessed St. Frances of Rome’s Day!
You can find her story here.
She reaches out her hands to the needy and extends her arms to the poor.
She did not eat her food in idleness.
O God, who have given us in Saint Frances of Rome
a singular model of both married and monastic life,
grant us perseverance in Your service,
that in every circumstance of life we may see and follow You.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 (The value of a worthy wife is far beyond pearls)
Psalm 34:2-11 “Taste and see the goodness of the Lord”
+Matthew 22:34-40 (You shall love the Lord your God and your neighbor as yourself)
The angel of the Lord
around the valiant wife
by checking her
with unseen hand
when she would go astray.
He loves her far too well
to let her fall
along the way.
His is the song
that melts her heart
to reverence her God,
that urges her
to spend herself
within her family
to open wide her arms
to shelter those in need.
He wins her praise.
Do I thwart my guardian angel?
Do I give him credit?
