Monday, Third week of Advent
Hear the word of the Lord, O nations;
declare it to the distant lands:
Behold, our Savior will come;
you need no longer fear.
Incline a merciful ear to our cry, we pray, O Lord,
and, casting light on the darkness of our hearts,
visit us with the grace of Your Son.
Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God for ever and ever.
Numbers 24:2-7, 15-17 (Balaam’s praise of Israel and prediction of the Messiah)
Psalm 25: 4-9 “Teach me Your ways, O Lord
+Matthew 21:23-27 (The Pharisees refuse to take a stand on whether John’s baptism was of human or divine origin)
and a star,
to guide our way.
He’s not intimidated
by the threats of men
but they prevent Him
from enlightening them.
There’s none so blind
as those who will not see
the way to Heaven
out of pride.
He loves the one
who begs for light,
who seeks the goad
of His instruction
on the road
Do I beg God to goad me to Heaven?
Which star am I following? (Lucifer is also called the “morning star”, see Isaiah 14:12)
