Saturday, first week of Advent (St. Nicholas)
Blessed St. Nicholas’ Day!
You can read his story here.
This is the steward, faithful and prudent,
whom the Lord set over His household
to give then their allowance of food at the proper time
We humbly implore Your mercy, Lord:
protect us in all dangers
through the prayers of the Bishop Saint Nicholas,
that the way of salvation may lie open before us
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Isaiah 6: 1-8 (Whom shall I send? Here I am, send me)
Psalm 40:2,4,7-10 “Here I am, Lord; I come to do Your will”
+ Luke 10:1-9 (The harvest is abundant but laborers are few)
He is mighty
the pillars tremble,
their holy faces.
Woe is me!
He’s on His way!
sinners are in dread,
trembling grips the impious:
Who of us can live with the consuming fire?
who of us can live with the everlasting flames?
He would not catch us unaware
He calls for messengers
to go prepare the way,
We cannot add
to what He gives us.
He must purge
and put His music
on our lips
and in our hearts.
Here I am
How can I deepen my awareness of the incredible majesty of God?
What am I doing on my own initiative instead of His?
