Tuesday, first week of Advent

December 2, 2014

JMJ

Blessed Tuesday!

Entrance Antiphon:

Behold, the Lord will come,
and all His holy ones with Him;
and on that day there will be a great light.

Collect:
Look with favor, Lord God, on our petitions,
and in our trials grant us your compassionate help,
that, consoled by the presence of your Son,
whose coming we now await,
we may be tainted no longer
by the corruption of former ways.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Readings:
Isaiah 11:1-10 (the gifts of the Holy Spirit bring peace and security)
Psalm 72: 1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17 “Justice shall flourish in His time, and fullness of peace forever”
Luke 10: 21-24 (God reveals to little ones what He hides from the clever)

The root of Jesse
sprouts a shoot,
a signal
lifted high
to lead the way
to paradise.

But only little ones can see it.

God conceals it
from the “wise”,
and He rejoices
to reveal it
to the ones
who trust in Him
and not themselves.

These are the ones
He can entrust
with leadership,

A little child shall lead them
~Isaiah 11:6

who will not arrogate
His power
to themselves,
who will repeat His Words
inerrantly
until the knowledge
of the Lord
engulfs the earth,
transforming it
with justice
bearing peace.

Who are the little ones in my life?
Is God revealing something to them that I’m too “wise” to see?
