Monday of Holy Week
Contend, O Lord, with my contenders; fight those who fight me.
Take up Your buckler and shield; arise in my defense, Lord, my mighty help.
Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that, though in our weakness we fail,
we may be revived through the Passion of Your Only Begotten Son.
Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Isaiah 42:1-7 (the Messiah comes to rescue, not destroy)
Psalm 27:1-3, 13-14 “The Lord is my light and my salvation”
+John 12:1-11 (Mary anoints Jesus’ feet)
has no roots
It has no ground
to stand on
when it’s challenged.
It cannot know
the pure extravagance of love
that dares to break itself
against our hardened hearts
to spill the fragrance
of its goodness
’till it fills
the house of God.
We are a fragrance of Christ for God’s sake,
among those who are being saved
and those perishing,
to one the odor of death into death,
to the other an odor of life into life.
~2 Corinthians 2:15-16
Is my center of gravity in God or in myself?
Do I lavish my love on Jesus like Mary
or steal from Him like Judas?
