First Saturday of Passiontide

April 12, 2014

JMJ

Blessed Saturday!

Entrance Antiphon:
O Lord, do not stay far off; my strength, make haste to help me!
For I am a worm and no man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.

Collect:
O God, who have made all those reborn in Christ
a chosen race and a royal priesthood,
grant us, we pray, the grace to will and to do what you command,
that the people called to eternal life
may be one in the faith of their hearts.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Readings:
Ezekiel 37:21-28 (God will unite His people in holiness)
Jeremiah 31:10-13 (The Lord will guard us, like a shepherd guarding his flock)
+John 11:45-57 (it is better for one man to die for the people)

When we unite
without our Lord
we get ourselves in trouble.
He must separate us
lest we self-destruct
(A teacher sees this
in his students
all the time).

It’s by His death,
that cleanses us
from wickedness,
that He can gather us
together
under His authority
to shout with joy
at all the blessings
of His feast.

Is the unity I have with the people in my life making me more holy or less–
is it based on what God wants or what I want?
Do I need to change my approach to my relationships?
