First Friday of Passiontide

April 11, 2014

JMJ

Blessed St. Stanislaus’ Day!

You can find his story here.

Entrance Antiphon:
This holy man fought to the death for the law of his God
and did not fear the words of the godless,
for he was built on solid rock.

Collect:
O God, for whose honor the Bishop Saint Stanislaus
fell beneath the swords of his persecutors,
grant, we pray,
that we may persevere strong in faith even until death.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Readings:
Revelation 12:10-12 (love for life did not deter them from death)
Psalm 34:2-9 “The Lord delivered me from all my fears”
+John 17:11-19 (They do not belong to the world any more than Jesus did)

When you find yourself
accused,
do you not strive
to prove
the accusations
false
not only by your words
but by a studied
carefulness
in everything you do?

You are accused
by night and day
before the Face of God
by one who seeks
to drag you down
to hell
with him.

You have a guard.
It’s Christ Himself!
(His Father too),
and means of conquering.

They defeated him by the Blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony.
Love for life did not deter them from death.
~Revelation 12:11

Does my way of life give my accuser credibility?
Am I taking shelter in God’s guarding of me or am I trying to get out from under His protection?
