JMJ

Blessed St. John Baptiste de la Salle’s Day!

You can find his story here.

Entrance Antiphon:
Whoever obeys and teaches the commandments of the Lord
will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven, says the Lord.

Collect:
O God, who chose Saint John Baptist de la Salle
to educate young Christians,
raise up, we pray, teachers in Your Church
ready to devote themselves wholeheartedly
to the human and Christian formation of the young.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Readings:
2 Timothy 1:13-14; 2:1-3 (Pass on the message to faithful people who will teach others)
Psalm 1:1-4, 6 “Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life”
+Matthew 18:1-5 (Whoever humbles himself like this child is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven)

We are to guard
what we’ve received,

not for the sake of hoarding it,
but so that we can pass it on
untainted,
as a sacred trust;
our childlike humility
not daring to add anything
or take a word away
from this great treasure
as God works through us
to speak to generations
yet to come.

Do I guard the Gospel without passing it on?
Or pass it on without guarding its integrity?
