Friday, third week of Lent
Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord,
for You are great and do marvelous deeds; You alone are God.
Pour out Your grace into our hearts, we pray, O Lord,
that we may be constantly drawn away from unruly desires
and obey by Your own gift the heavenly teaching You give us.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Hosea 14: 2-10 (if we return to God, He will save us)
Psalm 81:6-11, 14, 17 “I am the Lord, your God: hear My voice”
+Mark 12:28-34 (love of God and neighbor are the greatest commandments)
Once we get it through our heads
that God comes first
the rest falls into place.
When He’s just one accessory
and we are burdened
running first to this,
–not sure from whence will come our help–
’till we collapse
beneath our guilt.
He lets us prove
that only He
can raise us up
and prosper us.
To what or whom am I turning for the solutions to my problems?
What would it take to really put God first in everything?
