Tuesday, second week of Advent

December 10, 2013

Blessed Tuesday!

Entrance Antiphon:
Behold, the Lord will come, and all His holy ones with Him;
and on that day there will be a great light.

O God, who have shown forth Your salvation
to all the ends of the earth,
grant, we pray,
that we may look forward in joy
to the glorious Nativity of Christ.
Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Isaiah 40:1-11 (prepare the way for our God, Who comes to shepherd us)
Psalm 96:1-3, 10-13 “Our Lord Comes in strength”
+ Matthew 18:12-14 (the Good Shepherd leaves the 99 to search for the stray)

God isn’t
“out to get us”–

He’s out to bring us Home,
to hold us to His Heart
with radiant joy.

He’s given us the means
to make up for having strayed.
He’s filled the valleys that we’ve dug,
brought down the mountains that we’ve raised
against Him,
stone by stone.
The way is smooth,
so that no shame will hold us back
from basking in His power
and proclaiming
all He’s done.

The Hebrew word for “telling” God’s glory is from a root meaning to score with a mark,
as a tally or record. What would be on my “tally” of the good that God’s done for me?
Who would be encouraged or inspired by hearing about it?
Do I take seriously the command in the Psalms to praise God and announce His salvation day after day?
