Second Sunday of Advent
O people of Sion, behold,
the Lord will come to save the nations,
and the Lord will make the glory of His voice heard
in the joy of your heart.
Almighty and merciful God,
may no earthly undertaking hinder those
who set out in haste to meet Your Son,
but may our learning of heavenly wisdom
gain us admittance to His company.
Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Isaiah 11:1-10 (there shall be no harm on God’s holy mountain)
Psalm 72: 1-2, 7-8, 12-13, 17 “Justice shall flourish in His time, and fullness of peace forever”
Romans 15:4-9 (God’s patience & encouragement will help us live in harmony)
+ Matthew 3:1-12 (give evidence of your reform)
The lion’s still a lion.
He’s still got a taste for calf.
But the justice of the Lord
keeps him in line,
directs his strength
He bears the fruit
The ones who disobey
and burned with fire.
Good and evil
in the end
How am I indulging my “taste for calf”?
Do I take seriously the reality of God’s justice?
How can I direct my strength to discipline for unity in sacrifice?
