Tuesday of Holy Week

March 26, 2013

JMJ

Blessed Tuesday!

Entrance Antiphon:
Do not leave me to the will of my foes, O Lord,
for false witnesses rise up against me and they breathe out violence.

Collect:
Almighty ever-living God,
grant us so to celebrate
the mysteries of the Lord’s Passion
that we may merit to receive Your pardon.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Readings:
Isaiah 49:1-6 (God has prepared His servant for a mission to the whole world)
Psalm 71:1-6, 17 “I will sing of Your salvation”
+John 13: 21-33, 36-38 (Jesus predicts Judas’ betrayal & Peter’s denial)

We cannot know the future
but God does.

Where I am going,
you cannot follow Me now,
but you will follow Me later
~John 13:36

He knew it all
before He formed us
in the womb,
and He prepares us
(though we feel
so unprepared!)

for greatness
past our wildest dreams.

It is too little, He says, for you to be My servant,
to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and restore the survivors of Israel;
I will make you a light to the nations,
that My salvation may reach to the ends of the earth
~Isaiah 49:6

He knows we cannot do this
without trials,
so He measures
to our strength
the growing lessons
we must learn,
the form of polish
we will need
to make us shine.

One at a time
He warms them
with His loving hands;
and though He grieves
what we endure,

Jesus was deeply troubled
~John 13:21

He will not spare Himself
–or us–
the painful gifts
equipping us
to win.

Though failure dog
our faltering steps
it’s factored in
to help us win
humility
when we repent.

That is the key.

We do not learn
from errors we retain!

Do you approach trials as God’s training ground for your success?
Do you keep in mind that He knew this was coming & has plans in motion to get you through it?
Do you learn from your spiritual mistakes?
