First Saturday of Passiontide

March 23, 2013

Blessed St. Toribius of Mogrovejo’s Day!

You can find his story here.

Entrance Antiphon:
I will look after My sheep, says the Lord,
and I will appoint a shepherd to pasture them, and I, the Lord, will be their God.

O God, who gave increase to Your Church
through the apostolic labors and zeal for the truth
of the Bishop Saint Turibius,
grant that the people consecrated to You
may always receive new growth in faith and holiness.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

2 Timothy 1:13-14; 2:1-3 (Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus)
Psalm 96:1-3, 7-8, 10 “Proclaim God’s marvelous deeds to all the nations”
+Matthew 9:35-38 (Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers)

You will not mind the hardship

if your heart is moved as Jesus’ is
on seeing souls adrift and cast away.

You’ll find it such a welcome pain
to labor for their happiness
their slightest progress
ample to repay!

To see a light
dawn in the darkness
of a face
that had no hope…
Oh, bring it on!
I wouldn’t trade
a thousand comforts
for this joy!

It does get harder
when harried souls
act from their woundedness
to drive your love away,
attacking you.

This is the Cross
that Jesus bore,
a tree whose fruit
was long in coming.

Yet He kept
the vision bright
that only faith
could see.

let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus,
Who inspires and perfects our faith.
For the sake of the joy set before Him
He endured the Cross,
heedless of its shame
~Hebrews 12:2

The joy is there–
the hardships pass.
This is
the invitation
of a lifetime!

Will look past
the shame
to grasp the prize?

Have you had the experience of seeing God change someone’s life?
How is God calling you to serve in His harvest today?
