Friday, third week of Lent
Blessed St. John of God’s Day!
You can find his story here.
Open-handed, he gives to the poor; his justice stands firm for ever.
His might shall be exalted in glory
O God, who filled Saint Jon of God
with a spirit of compassion,
grant, we pray,
that, giving of ourselves to works of charity,
we may merit to be found among the elect in Your Kingdom.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
I John 3:14-18 (We ought to lay down our lives for our brothers)
Psalm 112:1-9 “Blessed the one who gives to the poor”
+Matthew 25:31-40 (Whatever you did for one of the least brothers of Mine, you did for Me)
How is it that the saints
can give so much?
…can give up all they have,
then give some more
(and more and more!)?
poor, yet we enrich many.
We seem to have nothing,
yet everything is ours!
-2 Corinthians 6:10
God fills their hands
as they reach out to give!
He gives us the command
to spread His Love
in word and deed
to spend ourselves
for those in need
and He provides the means
when we obey.
Do you trust God to provide for the needy through you?
