Blessed St. Peter Damian’s Day!

You can find his story here.

Entrance Antiphon:
In the midst of the Church he opened his mouth,
and the Lord filled him with the spirit of wisdom and understanding
and clothed him in a robe of glory.

Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that we may so follow the teaching and example
of the Bishop Saint Peter Damian,
that, putting nothing before Christ
and always ardent in the service of Your Church,
we may be led to the joys of eternal light.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 (Proclaim the word, even when people won’t tolerate sound teaching)
Psalm 16: 1-2, 5, 7-8, 11 “You are my inheritance, O Lord”
+John 15:1-8 (I AM the vine, you are the branches)

It’s all the more important
to cleave to the Vine
when others are falling away.

For the time will come
when people will not tolerate sound doctrines
-2 Timothy 4:3

That time has come.
We need an anchor,
stabilizing force.

We have one.

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,
Who is coming to judge the living and the dead,
and by His appearing
and His kingly power,
I charge you to preach the word
-2 Timothy 4:1

Lock in on God’s glory!
to the image of judgment and power;
His coming.

He who lives in Me
and I in him
will produce abundantly
-John 15:5

Apart from Him
we perish.

A man who does not live in Me
is like a withered rejected branch,
picked up to be thrown in the fire and burnt.
-John 15:6

This isn’t just a passing nod
to distant deity–
the disconnected branch can manage that
and die.

When we are His,
His lifeblood throbbing through us
fills our veins
produces fruit
that worldly men
won’t tolerate.
It doesn’t suit their taste.

But they will pass.
God will remain…
and He rewards.

If you live in Me and My words stay part of you,
you may ask what you will–
it will be done for you.
-John 15:7

What social pressures do you need to resist in order to remain in Jesus and He in you?
What practises can help you fix your mind on His glory?
