I rejoice heartily in the Lord,
in my God is the joy of my soul;
for He has clothed me with a robe of salvation,
and wrapped me in a mantle of justice,
like a bride adorned with her jewels.
O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin
prepared a worthy dwelling for Your Son,
grant, we pray, that, as You preserved her from every stain
by virtue of the Death of Your Son, which You foresaw,
so, through her intercession,
we, too, may be cleansed and admitted to Your presence.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Genesis 3:9-15, 20 (God brings the first sin to light and promises redemption)
Psalm 98:1-4 “Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous deeds”
Ephesians 1:3-6, 11-12 (God chose us from the beginning to be holy)
+ Luke 1:26-38 (the Annunciation)
How can you beat an enemy
with whom you’re in cahoots?
That’s been our problem
ever since Fall.
“I must break free
I clearly see
this habit is destroying me…
but I just can’t say no!
I love it so…”
That isn’t enmity,
the total break of foe from foe
God purposed from the start.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
between your seed and her seed;
he shall crush your head
and you shall lie in wait for his heel
God chose us in Christ
before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blemish
in His sight
Our mother was the only one
of Adam’s race
who had no love for sin
the only one,
who through her Son,
could crush the serpent’s head.
She’s won for us the power
to say NO
to our worst foe.
She’s full of grace!
God shielded her
from sin’s attack
by virtue of the merits of His Cross
ahead of time
for love of us.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us
that we might conquer sin!
